Sharing your Story
We all have a story to tell. Your story serves as both an example and an introduction to God’s story of salvation and redemption as told in the Bible.
Listen Like Jesus
A conversation takes place in the context of a relationship.
When an individual shares their story it is an opportunity and an invitation to listen. Sharing a meal or beverage together naturally lends itself to dialogue. Listening means putting ourselves aside to hear the experience, needs, pains, joys and sorrows of the other person.
Luke 2:52 reminds us that those needs may be physical, spiritual, social or emotional. This provides an opportunity to offer healing, help or encouragement and gives permission to share your story.
Be Vulnerable
Sharing your story is like a bridge to God’s story.
You know what it is to be healed— God has healed you.
To find peace and reconciliation— God has forgiven you.
In Luke 8:3 Jesus healed a man of demon possession and then sent him home to tell his community what God had done for him. Sharing our story is the same. It can be a bridge to telling the story of God or serve as an illustration, testimony or example of what the story of God can mean for the other person’s life.
